You will earn only 60% Gold while locked down, so you shouldn't use it when going on a Gold run. When you feel like you're ready to take on a section's Boss, find that room and lock down the Castle's layout with the Architect. Have patience, and take your time when taking out enemies it's better to work slowly than to lose all your health. If you see a room full of higher level enemies, don't hesitate to run away. In the beginning, you won't be strong enough to do much of anything, so don't even think about challenging the Castle's boss until you've beefed up.ĭon't rush in to anything you don't think you can handle. You should spend your first few runs focusing solely on racking up Gold to upgrade your Characters. It can be used to Upgrade your Character and buy valuable and useful equipment. Gold is the second most valuable commodity in Rogue Legacy, second only to skill. Spend as much gold as possible at every opportunity as any remaining gold will be lost before re-entering the castle.
